Manage members

The Users list shows everyone who has joined your organization. Open it from your organization's page with Manage users.

The Users list

Each row shows the member's Name, Email, Role, Status, Projects and the date they Joined. The account owner is marked with a crown.

  • Search by name or email, and filter by role and status. The list shows active and pending accounts by default.
  • Sort by name, email, role, status or join date.
  • People who haven't accepted their invitation are listed separately, under Pending invitations.

The list only shows members of the organization you're currently working in. To manage another organization's members, switch to it first.

Edit a member

Select a member to open their page. At the top you'll see when they joined, when they last signed in, and which version of the Terms they accepted and when.

With the Admin role (or the Edit permission for users) you can change their:

  • Photo: Change photo or Remove photo. Photos are JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB.
  • First name, Last name and Email.
  • Status. See Account status.

Changing their Role and Project access needs the Manage permission for users (the Admin role has it). Each section has its own save. See Roles and permissions and Project access.

The account owner's role can't be changed. Their page says "The account owner has full permissions in this organization." instead.

Account status

StatusMeans
ActiveCan sign in and work normally.
PendingSigned up but hasn't verified their email address yet.
SuspendedTurned off by an administrator. Can't sign in.
InactiveTurned off. Can't sign in.

Set a member to Suspended or Inactive to stop them signing in, and back to Active to let them in again. Their open sessions end the next time their sign-in renews, within 15 minutes.

Status applies to the whole account

A person has one Studio account, even if they belong to several organizations. Suspending them from your organization stops them signing in to every organization they belong to, not just yours. Studio can't yet remove a member from just your organization; ask them to leave instead.

Transfer ownership

Only the account owner can hand the organization to someone else, and only to a member who has already joined.

  1. Open your own page in the Users list.
  2. In the Danger Zone, select Transfer ownership….
  3. Confirm your password.
  4. Choose the new owner and select Send transfer invitation.

The new owner gets an email asking them to accept. The invitation expires in 3 days. While it's pending, your organization's page shows it, and you can Cancel transfer. The new owner can also decline.

When they accept, they become the account owner and you become a regular member. You keep your role, but you can no longer transfer ownership or delete the organization, and you can't undo the transfer yourself.

If email isn't configured for your organization, Studio shows an accept link to send to the new owner yourself.
