Set up Claude Code

Claude Code talks to the hosted server directly over HTTP — no bridge, no Node version to worry about.

No token needed

claude mcp add --transport http hypervalent https://mcp.hypervalent.io/mcp — just the URL — makes Claude Code ask you to log in to Studio and approve the connection (/mcp → Authenticate). See Connect by logging in. The steps below are the pasted-token alternative.

1. Get the snippet from Studio

In Studio open Settings → API tokens, create a Read + write token if the assistant should author content (which token?), then open Use with AI, choose Claude Code and copy the command. Replace the token placeholder (the prefix followed by …) with the full atk_… value.

2. Add the server

Run the command in any terminal:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http hypervalent "https://mcp.hypervalent.io/mcp?org=YOUR_ORG_ID" \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer atk_YOUR_TOKEN"

By default this stores the server in your user settings, so it is available in every project on the machine. Add --scope project to store it in the repository's .mcp.json instead — do not do that with a real token in a shared repository; use a team token per developer or an environment variable expansion (${HYPERVALENT_TOKEN}) in the header value.

3. Check it connected

bash
claude mcp list

hypervalent should show as connected. Inside a session, /mcp shows the server, its tools, and lets you reconnect after a token change. Then ask:

List the Hypervalent projects you can reach, then the document types in the first one.

Working from a project's codebase

Claude Code shines when the site that renders your content is open in the same session: it can read a document type's schema, draft content that fits, and check the rendering component in one go. Two habits help:

  • Say which project in CLAUDE.md if the token is organization-wide, so the assistant does not have to ask on every call — or narrow the token to the project.
  • Say when to publish. Writing "never publish without asking" in CLAUDE.md is enough; the tools are annotated as affecting live sites, and the built-in draft-document prompt never publishes on its own.

Removing the server

bash
claude mcp remove hypervalent

Revoke the token in Studio as well if the machine is being decommissioned.
